02-21-2008 (CAMERON) Rockdale police are now a step closer to solving the recent Wal-Mart theft in Rockdale and Taylor February 11th. Police say they have warrants on two of the four people involved. And 1 was arrested Thursday. Lt. J.D. Newlin was notified this week by Wal-Mart loss prevention that other stores in Stafford and Katy had also been victimized in much the same way. After further investigation, two male suspects were identified as Jason Lamont McGowan and Tyrone Bernad Mack, both of Huntsville. Mack was arrested Thursday by Huntsville Police. Authorities say this ring of thieves are believed to be involved in more than ten Wal-Mart thefts from Kilgore and East Texas, to the Houston area, as well as the Rockdale and Taylor stores. Newlin thanked Milam County Crime Stoppers for placing photos on their website for other law enforcement officers to be able to see the photos as well. Both subjects are charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity-Theft, $1,500 or more, but less than $20,000, which is a 3rd degree felony. Police are still searching for the identity of the female suspects involved in the thefts. |
